'‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.'
Matthew 25:31-46
"The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;" Isaiah 61:1

In 2010, Relevate Church joined forces with Set Captives Free Ministries (SCFM) to share the News of the Gospel to prison facilities operated by the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC). Since then, there have been over fifty certified volunteers trained through the GDC.

Set Captives Free Ministries (SCFM) is dedicated to restoring hope and direction to the lives of men and women inmates by sharing the love of Jesus Christ; to bring hope even in their current situation, to disciple them through the teaching of God's Word, break the cycle of crime, and prepare them for living a Godly lifestyle. Our mission is to be a Godly and positive influence to the inmate; to let them know that although they are behind physical bars, their minds can be free to worship God in spirit and in truth; and that there is a life after prison once they turn from a life of crime to a life in Christ.

Every Saturday evening, SCFM ministers in the West Central Integrated Treatment Facility (ITF), located in Zebulon GA, where we minister to an average of forty women who have gathered to praise God in song and to hear the Word of God through preaching. On every second Friday Relevate Church sends in a team to the Central State Prison (SP), located in Macon GA, where they minister to an average of one hundred men who come to praise God in song and hear His Word through preaching. A few times a year, SCFM, Relevate Church, and Lions Gate Academy, team up for day long ministry events, called Day of Breakthrough, in various prison locations across GA.

In order to be able to minister at the prison facilities, a person must be a certified badge holder through the GDC.
In order to be certified, one must not be on paper for a period of three (3) years prior to applying for a certification. The GDC holds certification classes periodically throughout the year. SCFM and Relevate church will notify individuals of certification courses in the area.

Certified volunteers are not able to minister to facilities to which they have family currently housed.
Certified volunteers are not able to write letters to inmates of the GDC

If you are not a certified volunteer, and want to be a part of ministering to those behind wire, there is still opportunity for you (even if you are still on paper). These men and women need encouragement and help throughout the week, and since certified volunteers can not write letters to the inmates, this allows you to take center stage in building a personal discipleship with one of the men or women of our facilities.
